ADULT STOMP

Who wants to be the 2009 Grape Stomp Champion Team...

Find a stomp partner and start practicing for the Grape Stomp Contest to be held on Saturday of the festival. Costumes or matching team shirts are encouraged!

Saturday, October 17th at 5:00 to 6:00

Due to the success of past years audience participation, we are again looking for volunteers (2 person teams) to participate. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Each team consists of a stomper and a swabbie. The stompers stand in the barrels and flatten the grapes with their bare feet. The swabbies stand below the barrels and catch the juice with a carafe. The team whose carafe has the most juice after stomping for 2 minutes is the winner and advances to the final round.

There will be four rounds. The winners of the first three rounds will compete in the 4th round to determine the 2009 Grape Stomp Champion Team.

Look for the table near the Wine Barrel stage and main stage to sign up your team. Sign up opens on Saturday at 3:30 pm and closes 4:30 pm.

There are only 3 barrels so the first 9 teams to sign up will participate.

The teams will start lining up at the barrel stage located next to the main stage 15 minutes before the event(Saturday at 4:45). If your team is not at the stage 15 minutes before the event, your spot will be forfeited to an alternate team. (Alternate teams are those that sign up after the first 9 teams).

If you want to speed up the paperwork, the Release Form is attached so you can bring it with you or you can complete one when you sign up at the festival. Both team members need to sign the Release form.

So take off those shoes (and socks) and be ready to "stompa the grapes"!

CAN'T FORGET THE BAMBINOS

This year the children have two opportunities to stomp the grapes! The Children's Grape Stomp event is on once on Saturday and once on Sunday. This is not a competition event. We will try to get as many children as we can to stomp in the hour allotted for this event. Each child will stomp once for 15 seconds and receive a small gift.
For more information and rules see Children Activities.
