Tired of stuffy New England, Prudence Bell resigns from her teaching position and heads for the Eternal City and encounters a handsome student, a dashing older man, and competition from a woman of the world. The young lovers set out together to become acquainted with Italy and visit the Italian Alps, Verona, Pisa, Lago Maggiore, other breathtaking sights, and of course Roma. Starring Troy Donahue, Suzanne Pleshette, Rossano Brazzi, Angie Dickinson, and L’Italia.

Filmed on location in Naples, Rome, and Capri, It Started in Naples stars the magnetic screen team of Clark Gable and Sophia Loren along with Vittorio De Sica and an Italian cast which includes Nando,the rebellious, cigarette smoking son of Gable’s deceased brother. It Started in Naples…but will it end in love?
